AT PRO headphones advice

New member
I purchased a Garrett AT Pro last year and am wanting to purchase a set of headpones to use with it. I am looking for advice on what to purchase. I do not want to spend more than $100. I see Garrett make a pair for the AT Pro for about $60. I have a couple headphones with a small input receptical that I used for trap shooting, but no cord for either. I see they sell adapters for AT Pro to use other headphones. Any suggestions on what to purchase for a set up for my AT Pro would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim

If you ever think of doing water hunting get the water proof Garrett head phones for the AT Pro if not just the Garrett AT Pro head phones are the best because of the special connector they use. Your going to spend $35 for the 1/4 inch connector so I would go with the Garrett head phones.

If you get the adaptor you can choose from an unlimited number of headphones or ear buds. They do need to have a volume control, and you will need a 1/8 adaptor. Also the longer the Cord the better. I use ear buds because I wear a wide brim hat and the Garrett headphones are uncomfortable while wearing the hat. I'd love wireless, but am having trouble finding some that I can afford. I bought the Garrett adaptor and already had several pair of headphones/ear buds, but they had no volume control. I went to radio shack to buy a pair with a volume control, they were sold out. But, as the guy walked away I saw a 1/8 extension cord with a volume control for a little over $10. So, I can choose from the two Garrett headphones and 6 pair of store bought I have. None are water proof and when in the water, which I only go knee deep, I use the Garrett's.

The connector at the machine is water proof, but not at the other end.

That's what comes with the machine. The sound is ok, but they are cheaply made if you ask me. Only months old mine are not working properly.

I see nothing wrong with the stock headphones. I even wear them in the water and have taken waves over the head...speakers got wet and distorted for a few hours but never stopped working. I don't recommend abusing them like that though. I also have the Garrett Blue waterproof headphones...hate them, and a pair of completely custom Waterproof Grey Ghosts. The GG's are the cats meow. I also have the adapter...but never use it since its not waterproof.

Yes..to me they are painfully loud. The Waterproof Grey Ghost do not have a volume control either..but the sound quality is great...they have a more mellow, smooth sound.

Thanks everyone for their input. I have descided to go with the Garrett Master Sound headhones equiped with the water tight connection for the AT Pro. They look comfortable, maybe a little warm in the summer. I hope I am satisfied with sound quality. I don't have any headphones now and have never used any before. I guess i will see how I like using headphones and maybe upgrade later if needed.
Thanks everyone,
Tim

The cord for the Garrett headphones is short. After use they improve as the coiled cable stretches. .
