AT Pro & Gold Tech Specs

I don't see the optimum temperture ranges for these detectors in the tech specs. More concerned with the high end temps since it can really get hot here in the deep south.

[size=large]i could only find one small paragraph on pg. 49 of the OM. it just warns that you should avoid extreme heat as much as possile. very vague. don't leave in trunk on very hot days. that applies to all mds. so what is extremely hot? if it's too hot for me then it's too hot for my machine? you go into the shade and drink liguid. quess you take your machine into the shade at least. don't waste beer by pouring it on your machine to cool.

Well, by heat I mean over 100 degrees F. And i suppose it would not be a good idea to use a machine in sub freezing temps. I have seen another well known and quality made detector ruined by exposure to temperture extremes.

[size=large]looks like it's up to you to figure out what's too hot. in the southwest and well anywhere east of the rockies and mid california it probly gets too hot quite often. here in the N.W. it's been years since the temps got to 105. got to 107 a decade or so ago. we hug 100 some times. i was worried about the temps getting to cold for the batteries but suffered a heart attck after getting them out of the truck and into the garage. now down til march recovering. see what happens when you worry about your machines? gotta love this hobby.

I would have to say it would have to be much hotter than a 100 degrees..We had close to 70 days over a hundred this past summer.. Garrett is less than 70 miles from me.. Now you put one in the trunk of a car on a 100+ day it would probably exceed 160..I would really like an answer on this question.. Because that would void nearly 4 months of hunting here..With plans on ordering one next week, I probably need to find that out.. My guess is it's fine.. I have hunted with my GTAx-1000on days at over 100 I saw no adverse effects on it..

As for the cold I see pics with guys hunting in the snow with ice covering coil and display, I think they are tougher than some people think, I think...:)))

John in Edmonton tapes a hand warmer pack to his at-pro/gold to keep the batteries warm. He has no problems in the cold. Well except maybe for frostbite.

Just don't leave 'em in the car during those hot Texas summer afternoons and you'll be fine. They were built in Texas and work just fine in this heat. Besides, I don't hardly do any dirt diggin' in the summer here in Texas, grounds too hard and I falter well before the detector does. I just find a lake swim area and hunt for some gold!!!
