AT-PRO GOING BONKERS

TRIPLE-SSS

Well-known member
Went to the beach yesterday and had a problem with my head phones. After calling Garrett' I managed to fix the problem and installed them on the unit. I took my AT-PRO in the back yard and the unit worked great for about 5 minutes. I tried to pin point a target and it went bonkers. It has a mind of it's own and won't stop beeping, giving target signals and all kinds of chattering. I tried to reset it to the factory settings and tried different modes, tried to ground balance the unit, shut the unit off and turned it back on but cannot figure out what the hell is going on.I also disconnected the head phones to see if possibly that might be the problem. I can't figure out what happened.
Has anybody else had a similar problem with their unit? Just wanted to know before I call Garrett tomorrow or send it back for repairs.
Thanks
Stan.
p.s. I used it all day yesterday at the beach and had no problems, worked great.

Back yard might be the clue.
Any power lines underground or above close by?

Try taking the batteries out , and then putting them back in and see if that clears the machine ...... Jim

ihave two friends here who has had the same problems in their yard. turned out to be their alarm system for one and motion detector for the other.they turned them off and no more problems

TRIPLE-SSS, A close friend of mine had the same problem!! He tested one of the first AT-PRO's SHIPPED, and it worked fine for a couple of days!! Then after PINPOINTING a Target in the water,
it went NUTS, and NO MATTER WHAT HE DID, nothing worked!! The next day, it continued to GO NUTS, so he contacted GARRETT, and they determined, that it was a BAD COIL, and
REPLACED the coil!! Since then, it has been WORKING FINE!! Hope this helps, Les Robinson

My AT Pro just stopped pinpointing. Called Garrett and was told to send it in. They sent me back a new one that seems to be working ok. Been cold in upstate NY so I only a few times. About two weeks turn around.
