AT pro first relic hunt. Need advice!

Took my AT pro out for its first relic hunt sunday. Got 2 three ringers and a pile of change. First bullet read 68/69 on VDI and with mid tone. I knew it was a bullet from the air test I've done. Second Bullet read 81 with high tone. I thought it was a dime, but turned out to be a bullet. The only difference was the second bullet was in sand and dirt mix. Is that the reason for the different tone and reading? The good thing about the AT pro was I didn't dig alot of pull tabs. But I'm scared I'll miss a button. Does anyone know what a button reads on VDI?

I've had a fair number of bullets and they seem to come up all over a wide range depending on the exact alloy they were using. I've yet to hit a civil war piece but I've found everything from a musket ball to modern jacketed. Lot's of small, nearby trash seems to also skew the numbers.

Depending where you live and ground conditions bullets and buttons come in all over. button around 60 to 70 in good ground. I hunt hot ground where even bullets come in as IRON!!!! dig it all to find it all. JMO

I have dug a ton of 3 ringers and they usually id around 69-72. Buttons can vary because of size and depth. I have dug small flat buttons in the 50-60 range and larger ones in the 70s.
The last few coat size eagle buttons have read 81-82. Hope this helps.
