AT Pro feedback

I have field tested many detectors for OEM over the years. I will put the Pro through various tests at a number of sites in Virginia. The ground here can be low to extremely high in minerals. The ocean beach is not far away. I will relic, coin and beach hunt with it in the pro mode. I have no dog in the hunt so my findings will be non partisan. More info to follow. George Tex Kinsey

Sounds good Tex I can always trust in what you say. If it works as good or better then the Gold Bug i will be a happy camper with the bonus of it being waterproof.

The G2 is a no goon the salt water beach. I exspect the same for the AT.

The AT Pro should be better at the beach than the G2 because it doesnt have an all metal mode which should give it more stability. Plus I believe the software will be better programmed for the beach/salt.

Alan

only has the true AM mode and not a disc mode also?

Yeah I've field tested about 20-25 plus coils and accessories over the years and am looking forward to wringing the AT PRO out to see what it's all about.

Bill

No it has both...

You said...."The AT Pro should be better at the beach than the G2 because it doesnt have an all metal mode which should give it more stability". So how does the AT's lack of AM mode, which means it's always in the disc mode, and the G-2 has a disc mode also,........ I must be missing something here. You have used one or both units?

Being that the G2 is the same as the Gold Bug Pro, it should do an exceptional job on the salt water / beach. The Gold Bug is the best single frequency detector for salt beach hunting to hit the market.

Looking at the AT Pro, I would say it's a close copy of the Gold Bug. Hmmm, I wonder how they got that ??

Rissa. There is a reason Detector Pro uses a lower Freq on there machines. Tesoro Tiger shark even has a salt switch. In the long line of past and new single freq VLF machines. None of them work very well in the salt. I picked up the Dec issue of W&E treasures last night. In the middle of the mag there was the full page sexy ad for the AT. No where in that ad did it say anything about surf or salt. It did mention light wading.

Saltwater hunters have been wanting a light weight ID machine that works well in the wet sand. Were left with water proof mods to land machines or using heavy dive machines.

Your missing the boat on what I posted. I mentioned the Fisher Gold Bug Pro & the Tek G2. They excel on the wet salt sand better than any other single frequency detector. Perhaps you missed all the post about that on the other forums ?

I'm sure the AT Pro will work fine, and yes I did hear on their video they mentioning about it being able to handle the "surf". They certainly didn't mean the surf of a lake.

R.

Surf is the wave activity in the area between the shoreline and outer limit of breakers. It may refer to a breaking wave in shallow water, upon the shore, or in the area in which waves break. (wikipedia) Dose not say anything about fresh or salt water. So needless to say i'm truely confused.

Anyone who doesn't think surf can be in fresh water hasn't been around the Great Lakes during a big storm.

Well what I am saying is an all metal mode even with ground balance and tracking can be noisy at the beach in the wet stuff.

The AT Pro does not have the all metal mode. it is a Disc machine with ground balance. The Pro Audio mode resembles an all metal mode but isnt. So...with the AT Pro having a pre-set ground balance at factory PLUS ground balance and manual grnd bal, PLUS software programmed to handle hot minerals (surf also) and a large DD.....It should do bettter that the G2.

Until we get reports from users soon we dont know for sure.

Alan

Its not a close copy because it doesnt have an all meta mode. It has Pro Audio which resembles an all metal mode but is not. Sounds original to me.

If what you say is true about the others performance on the beach then the AT PRO will do well, with its ORIGINAL features that are NOT in the Gold bug or G2.

Wait! Garrett copied the Gold Bug to make the AT Pro? Pretty big claim, any proof?

Im new here, and new to metal detecting. Just ordered an AT Pro and can't wait to get out with it. Hope all the hype is worth the $600.00 price tag on this thing?
