AT Pro depth ?

I started out with an ACE 250 and found many wonderful pieces. Then I got into relics and got a Tesoro Tejon, which I love. But, I still like tones. My current dillema is ......... go with a Tesoro Golden for its tones but seemingly slight weakness in depth ability. Or go with the AT Pro. I have a place in my shriveled little pea of a heart for Tesoro, but the AT has so much to give ! What kind of depth (no BSing please) are you getting for an old silver dime and old small copper cent in moderate soil ? Thank you.

Depth is dependent on many many things. Way to many variables and situations. That being said, 8-9 inches is very reasonable with good conditions.

Yes indeed, many variables. 8-9 inches more or less ?, jumpin jiggers that's a deep one.:clapping:

Like Bart said, 8' - 9' is conservative. It sounds to me like your heart has already made a decision, give Bart a call - he did right by me! You won't regret picking up a AT Pro or Gold, they're easy and fun to use, extremely versatile (I killed a Lobo by slipping in a mossy stream), and Garrett gives outstanding customer service if you have any issues, even if it's a grey area, like when I slid onto my machine and cracked the housing - they took care of it N/C, they're the best!

Yes, I think that the answer is staring me in the face. Mr.s Santa is going to grab another machine for me and now I'm 90% sure that it will be an AT Pro. I still have my ACE 250 so there will be some familiarisation. Took the ACE out last week and got a 1900 quarter and 1903 tiny silver nickle. Yes, I think that it is settled now.

I think you'll enjoy it a lot. I forgot to mention that I swear I dug a 1918 wheatie at 12". It was under a tree and some of that was duff, but I kept digging with the Lesche, got tired of it, and went back to the car for the long bladed transplanting/post hole shovel. That was with the AT Pro and there was a little moisture in the ground.

I'm gonna be more realistic here. You can count on 6" and have a good target ID in most cases. Larger targets...8". I have 3 AT-Pro's right now and have had as many as 6 at one time. I have ALOT of hours logged on these machines and just telling you from honest Consistent results. An occational deeper target happens once in a great while but is not the norm.

Well do you av 6 at pros that's crazy? Lol why would one person need that many machines that are the same model that's also like 3 thousand pounds worth u must av alot cash

I have both the golden and the AT Pro. The golden is power ground balanced to my soil conditions. Ive taken them both out to check targets with both. Now even though the Golden umax is 10 kz and the AT Pro is 15 kz ,the AT is the clear winner for giving a high tone on targets on deeper coins with either the 8x5 coil or the stock coil.

cheers for that mate its good to know the at is performing well:) i love mine and using it in the pro mode zero discrim picks up alot targets my other machines missed:)

Because I beat the heck out of my machines and eventually they break...gotta have backups. Also I have the extras for my friends who can't afford their own.

Stinkfoot, the AT Pro is great for depth in my opinion. I have found many deep targets. Earlier this year I found an 1891 Vicky dime, and it was 8 or 9 inches deep. My pro has also sniffed out eight 5cent fishscales, a couple of them were very deep. A couple weeks ago I dug up an 1897 fishy that was 6 or 7 inches deep, and there was rusty junk in the hole with it!! My AT Pro has pulled at least 85 silver coins in spots that I pounded with my old detector. I am also in Saskatchewan, my soil ground balances at 82-89...I have much love for my AT Pro!

Here are the silver coins my Pro has found. Blue background is last year, black background is this year (missing are the 15 silvers I found since I took this photo).

Thanks. Sounds like she gets plenty deep enough for most practical purposes. I have had great fun with the Tejon and made amazing relic finds, but that level can get tiresome. Part of the reason that I got into the hobby, beside the fascination and excitement of the finds, was relaxation and personal time. I just want to be able to relax and listen for different tones while enjoying the surroundings. I find that multi tone machines let me lower my concentration because the tones alert me while I'm enjoying the outdoors. Hard to explain what I'm trying to say. There is more to the experience for me than just high concentration nuance deciphering of deep signals.

Excellent reply, thank you. This was the conclusion that I was slowly coming to through thread research. You cut it to the chase for me. Yes, the 10kz was attractive to me specifically for silver coins and the 15 dicey to me because I already have a 15 kz machine. But the AT seems to have many more features such as shallow water capability, that leave the Golden behind. I will never slam Tesoro, but I also can't deny a superior product for dollars spent.

Wow, you are spanking her but good bud ! We should communicate over the winter. I'm a little gun shy of hooking up right now though, as I just got site stroked badly from someone that I thought was a friend.

i did a test on me first time to the local beach i dug a hole 9inch deeo put a old half penny coin in a shell and placed it at the botton filled the holde over with sand and then the water washed over it i still was picking it up with a good digable tone at that depths on the wet sand i was really happy with:)
