At Pro control box

My AT Pro come in the mail today, and as I was putting it together the first thing I noticed was the jacks for the head phones and coil that plug into the control box area is very tight. I know they only need to be finger tight and am reluctant to use pliers to get a good seal. I was thinking of using a little silicone grease in the socket to help seal the jack. Would this interrupt the signal or cause a problem?

Just use a small amount of silicone grease on the O ring. Not inside on the contacts. Those O rings can be a little pesky making sure they stay seated properly as you thread the connection but it gets easier with practice.

those O ring seals are made to work when dry. they seal really well and finger tight is all that is needed for a good seal. no lube required

The seals arrive with lube on them, the battery box seal which operates like a big O-Ring is lubed when it arrives. All diving and water equipment O-Rings are maintained with silicone grease. Think there's a trend there......

Only place I've seen dry O-rings is on Oxygen equipment and medical gas equipment. Even the O-rings on my NovaTac flashlight arrive lubed and the manufacturers instructions are to do that regularly.

Ya my unit had silicone grease on the seals as well. The silicone doesn't hurt the rubber and it is easier to put the connectors on with a little lube.
I have two coils and both headphones and I think the connectors could have been designed a little better. I find it awkward to change them and a person has to be extra careful so you don't bend the pins or pinch the o ring.
I think I'm gonna modify my headphone connector to a standard 1/4 in jack/plug about 6 in from the control box and leave the water proof connector on permanently. Same deal as the adapter they sell you but it'll only cost me about $5. I'll cut my cord and insert both a male and female 1/4 jack/plug.
