AT Pro Concentric Coils

Kevin B.

New member
I headed over to a website (forum sponser) that sells Garrett stuff. I noticed (for the first time) that there are concentric coils, including a big one, for the AT Pro. I have been studying on getting a new detector, but I think getting a new coil to play with will help me save money. And possibly open up some doors that were closed with the coils I presently have . (9x11 and 5x8 DD coils) Is there a practical application for a large concentric coil? Are they hotter on coins? I am detecting seveal yards that are not really trash filled....where a concentric coil would possibly shine. I know that the Fisher CZ-3D uses a concentric coil and it is a legendary coin grabber. Any thoughts on this?? I appeciate your time.

Large concentric coils are good to cover large areas in less time simply due to their size alone. The 9" x 12" concentric coil is my coil of choice for coins/rings in sports fields. They also ID bottle caps better then a DD. However, a DD coil will get better depth in high mineralized soil.

Below is a link to more information on search coils.

You made me interested, so I'll go get a concentric coil for the AT-Pro and do a first hand comparison with the CZ-3D.
It will be on location and on the ground tests as that's the only tests giving realistic results worth looking at.
If you want to see how it is on our silver coins............ then you may attend.
There are heaps of informative AT Pro videos on Garrets web site.
Any detectors can be coin a grabber...........!

Ordered a concentric coil direct from Texas,............. a dealer that ships offshore and accept PayPal.
No ifs..... No buts.......and no requirements to reveal and post ones finds.................just push a few buttons and it's on its way..........excellent service............like Garrett service.

I ordered the 6.5X9 concenrtic for my new AT Pro, I already had the stock DD that came with it. I didn't want the big gun 9X12 ,I have always done well with concentrics coils on other detectors in past.

I just ordered an AT pro. My X-terra 705 minelab always ground balances in the upper teens to upper 20's depending on the site which
is in the mid to upper but not high mineralization. And concentric coils are not recommened for the high mineralized areas.
Maybe Bart or someone else more familiar with the pro will chime in and explain it better.
