At pro coil problem

Hey guys first time post here. I have a problem, with my at pro maybe someone an help with. I have been using a concentric coil for a few weeks. I am working quite a trashy area so I put my 5x8 DD coil back on. The coil will not detect Canadian coins within the coil. When I pinpoint it will only sound on the outside rim of the coil. Tried the larger DD coil same problem they did not so this before I started using the concentric coil. Tried the factory reset no change, hooked concentric back up works correctly. Any ideas?thanks

Upon further testing the coil with detect at about a inch above the target but once it goes any lower the coil no longer finds the coin within the coil only on the outside edge.

I believe your detector is nulling out iron.
I have seen the same thing happen with my ctx3030....which also uses a dd coil. Others have reported the same problem with other detectors, though I've only seen it on my CTX. Will have to try with my at pro??? You might be on to something with a DD.

Canadian coins are tough on account of their metallurgy.....

I run Pro Zero 40 disc with the stock 11"dd...I get them, but they are tough targets that sound like a bottlecap...Same with my F70 and the 11"dd...I get the Canadian coins with that too, but the signal is not as crisp as what we are used to in the States, all over the place in fact...so I sort of go by 'target size and profile' instead of tones and tids...

I live in Michigan, so theres a fair amount of Canadian coins here..the pennies are no problem! In fact, they really ping hard! Higher even than ours...must have a higher copper content or something?...sound like a sweet silver dime...

I'm sure the Canadians will be along shortly to give you some tips regarding the nickels, dimes, Loonies and Toonies.... Good post...
Mud.

John Edmonton did a very detailed post regarding this subject back in 2012...its on the Garrett Forum...take a read..

Thanks guys it seems like the problem is on the really new minted clad. Tried some older clad from the early 2000 and it worked correctly.
