AT PRO chirping and making sounds sitting still...

Have a question my AT PRO is a few weeks old and I've noticed its chirping and making sounds when I set it on the ground...anyone have an idea what causes this?..I've even noticed its a little noisy now just searching like chirping and giving off different signals...the batteries are the ones it was shipped with but the battery level is just at 3/4 bars...any suggestions are appreciated ...

Mine does that too. It's probably picking up emi. It stops when the machine is off the ground and you resumes swinging the coil. That's one of the side effects of having a very sensitive detector. It will stop chirping if you turn down the sensitivity, but then you would be running a quiet detector with less depth.

A proper ground balance may eliminate some of this chirping also. But wide open its gonna chirp.

I got in touch with Garrett and they had me try some things out and it still was chirping and giving the false readings just laying on the ground while I dug...they are sending me a new coil ...they are pretty sure the coil was defective...keeping my fingers crossed
