AT Pro best value for the money?

I took the AT Pro and the CTX3030 out for a little while today. I used the CTX for a while and managed to pull a barber dime close to 9 inches deep with it. I had the AT Pro along and then switched to it. It wasn't long before I dug a deep wheat penny at around the same depth as the barber dime. This is in real hard, dry ground. I have to say for the money the AT Pro is the best bargain going.........:)

I'm finding the AT-Pro and E-Trac a great combination of tools. If I can ever afford the CTX I'll sell the Etrac but I'd want to keep my AT=Pro

The AT-Pro with the 5x8 coil is awesome for hunting in the woods and rain or shine. I use the CZ-3D for deeper stuff.

I've found deep silver coins ( between 8 and 9 inches deep) with my AT Gold with the stock 5 x 8 coil using the DISC 1 mode. Typically my ground balance is in the high 50's up to low 80's. That's not mild ground. I'm not talking about a whisper, either. I mean a good solid high tone, no question. No need to have professional skill level to hear a target. The AT Pro has a lower frequency and bigger coil. That's gotta hit silver over 10 inches deep.

I think ground balance is very important and one thing that make the AT series excell. The AT series has what I call "high performance" ground balance. Like a race car it needs to be tuned properly to get full power. It's so easy to balance with the auto balance, or the manual has the high or low tones to show you which way to balance. It couldn't be any easier to get near perfect balance. Add to this the iron audio feature, hi-res iron discrimination, push button controls, extremely fast recovery speed and target seperation (I love the high tone for coins), and you have one of the better machines at ANY price.

I have allways liked your videos, U make it happen for the live digs. I Watch a lot of videos about metal detecting and U R Good. There R very few videos that can compare to yours , so thanks. Somebody has to step and give live results about detectors and U seem to B honest and informative with or without your blue shoes:rofl:

Thanks for the comments INCH. That was a good one....I usually wear some blue Mizuno blast softball shoes.....This time I had sandals on.......Lol

Can you give a link to his videos...love watching good MD'ing videos. Thanks..

Type in DirtFishing on YouTube. I don't hunt much any more so watching video is good for me:thumbup: If your looking for the ATPRO videos, He has a few, but mostly other brands. I like his videos because he gives a dig all target signal sometimes and shows you that stinkin beaver tail. there's alot of good videos on findmall , but mr blue shoes seems to have edge . I give  to all who take time to make the vids

I personally think the AT Pro is excellent for the money. I can't say that I've dug a coin at 9" yet, but I have dug a few at 8" in my local park. Excellent machine and I recommend it to anyone considering about being a serious hunter.

I agree! I love the Garrett AT Pro. GREAT value for the $. The smaller 5x8" DD coil is a GREAT setup. Almost as deep as stock coil but the separation is awesome!

In its price range the AT-Pro is by far the best deal on a detector. Waterproof really seals the deal...even if you don't water hunt...being able to rain hunt...priceless! It is a simple machine compared to the more expensive models...but still take the time to really learn it and it really is a hard machine to beat. Not the deepest but very respectable and once again...the price is right. The AT-Pro is not the new kid on the block anymore, but I say that as a good thing...seems that all the bugs have long been worked out. Garrett is awesome at taking care of customers quickly! I recently sent in one of my AT-Pro's that freaked out on me during a water hunt. I sent it Priority mail and had it back in less then a week and a half! Brand new coil and some upgrade due on the control unit. I could not be happier, especially when I see nightmare stories of another very expensive company taking MONTHS to get detectors back to the customer...one word...UNACCEPTABLE!! Just yesterday I decided to go and try out one of my AT-Pro's I purchased off the classifieds here. I have the 5X8DD coil on it and never tried that setup before. I set off to an old park that i a detectorists nightmare, YEARS of trash! I run in Pro mode, Zero discrimination...I hunt by sound first, and ID last. The detector NEVER shut up for the 1 1/2 hour hunt. I just had to highly concentrate on those momentary good sounds buried in the constant bad sounds. Well I ended up with $1.23 in clad, a fake ring, and a very nice silver and diamond earing. I tested the diamonds...they are real! 64 tiny real diamonds set in 925...it was a nice find that was difficult to pull amongst all the trash. My question now is do I want to pick up an AT Gold to add it to the collection...

Bill, you won't regret getting that coil. It pretty much lives on mine, even in the water. :detecting:

My 5 x 8 coil hits all of the targets in my test garden as hard as the stock coil, seperates better, as is light as a feather. The stock coil sits on the shelf now.
