At Pro battery technical problem

Hi -

I recently purchased a used AT Pro. I installed new batteries and after turning on the unit the battery meter only read one bar. One bar means the batteries are low and need to be changed. After testing it on some coins and stuff it started acting erratically and shut off. I replaced the batteries with another new set, turned it back on and the battery meter still displayed one bar. I also tried reset a couple of times with no change. The battery compartment looks ok, all terminal connections look ok and the polarity of the battery holder when inserted is ok.

Any ideas? If not I will get an RMA and send it to Garrett for them to check out.

Thanks,
George

Well three things come to mind.....

1) All your batteries are nearly dead

2) Your polarity is out of sequence

3) Your contact points are oxidized a bit. Take a pencil with an eraser on one end, and use the eraser to clean all the points. Now, check for proper polarity and reinsert the batteries. Polarity should always be +-+-+-+-

Good luck!
