AT Pro battery Indicator

Just got a new AT Pro. The battery indicator appears to be flakey. Sometimes shows all bars, sometimes none. I know a call to Garret is probably warrented, but has anyone run across this? New charged nicads do not eliminate the issue.

Take a pencil with an eraser on the end, and clean all the contact points in the battery holder, the batteries themselves and the contact points in the detector....see if this helps.

Nicad's are only 1.2 volts. Sure does sound like something is not making good contact. You might try to examine the contacts inside the detector battery compartment. Probably should try a new set of AA's. Make sure they are all properly installed ( no reverse polarity) . Preferably you should check the voltage on the battery pack to see if there is a problem there.

Thanks, polarity is fine. Detector powers up. Pulled anyway, batteries in it measure 3.1 volts per side (while in holder). Pulled and put new alkalines in (voltage identical), powered up no display on battery indicator, everything else appers fine.

Keep the ideas coming guys n gals!

Well, about the only thing I can think of is to carefully hit it with a hammer. LOL (Only joking, please do not try this). But that might void the warranty, so you might have to send it in for repair. Our kitchen oven came with a small dent it in. We told them to knock off $150,. They did.

I think you're right, time to call Garrett...
