AT/Pro arrived today

I got my AT/Pro about an hour ago and put it together. I have to go cook supper for my elderly Mama and then go to church, but I intend to play with it tomorrow, if I can wait that long. I'm looking forward to some nice finds at the water holes I have lined up. I'll bench test it tonight after church with some of the silver and gold jewelry and coins and regular clad. Plus, I intend to run some nails and pop tops and other junk, lead fishing weights, bullets, casings thru it and see how it sounds and check the digital display for the items I scan. If everything works out, I will be at the river tomorrow or Friday & Saturday.

Congratulations, on your new purchase wish you the best on your hunts in the future.
Post some of your finds tomorrow looking forward to seeing them.

God Bless!

Fantastic! I am really curious how you will find it. Good luck Fongu and I am looking forward to your first hunt and finds. :beers:

Did anybody else have a hard time getting the coil and headphones plugged in or am I just doofus? That could be six of one or half-dozen of the other, but I'm gonna be a dirt fishing little scudder. lol
I'm definitely pumped up about this unit and it may take me some time to learn it, but not as long as the 2500. It's a lot lighter in weight than the 2500, also and that's a plus.

It's a hard rain in our area and we have been praying for rain. Thank you, Lord. I wanted to go to the woods and check out an area near a spring, and the rain doesn't bother me or the AT/Pro. But, the high winds made me stay home today. Too many widow makers, (dead limbs), hanging on trees to suit me. I did a lot of bench testing and loved the crisp sound when you scan silver coins or rings and even a chain. I was surprised at how it sounded with the 10K rings and it was all over the place. The digital display was 80-92 on the silver coins and jewelry, but 28 to 45 on the gold rings. That high sweet sound on the silver rings is something I'm looking forward to when I hit some of these areas with lots of trash that I have detected before. I meant to bench test some pop tabs and nails and other trash, but had to go run an errand. Later tonight, I intend to try these targets and hit the field tomorrow. I learn better in the field anyway and I'm taking a small voa tape recorder to record my signals, digital display and what I dig up. That's a lot easier than trying to write this stuff down until I get more experience with it.

Hey!!1 fongu make sure you fill in the tabs at the top . the manufacture setting leaves about three open an you need to set those up also the ground balance i bounce it above the ground about 8 to 10 times an yes hooking it up was a bummer! did mine in Atlantic city the night before i was to use it . so glad i did it the night before it took for ever but it works good. ! HH young man!

Hey Maineman,

I noticed when I was air testing some gold rings on the ground, some of the cursors didn't show up. A car cigarette lighter (plug-in) rings up as silver, also.
Sterling silver, silver coins and clad dimes and quarters leave no doubt what they are in my opinion. Even a sterling silver chain gave more distinct sound than did the gold rings I have.

I love the iron audio and tested it on different bottle caps. Cartridge brass gives a good tone like coins, but not as high. Most of the nails I had were easy to tell by the digital number and sound, but a blade from a jigzaw sounded almost like money except for the iron audio. You might be right about filling in the gaps at the top because all the different pop tops I have didn't make a sound or barely a sound and I wonder if this is why my gold rings are all over the place?

Nickels were around 50-53 in my air test and according to the videos I watched at Garrett and the instruction book that's where a lot of jewelry will ring up.
The only way to learn it now is to hit the field tomorrow. I had too many errands to run today to get into the field, but did get to test a lot of targets in my yard
before the mosquitoes ran me inside. It's 61 degrees and we got nearly 2 inches of rain yesterday and they are out in force. We needed the rain very much.

Hey Art,

You're right about the plug ins. I took them back apart and rewrapped the coil cable around my shaft better and also unplugged the headphones and put them back into the plug and it was easier the second time around. I practiced my pinpointing and I like the fact you can pinpoint off the middle of the coil, or the front or back. That will come in handy in the chest deep water where I can't see the bottom and have to put my foot at the back of the coil to position my scoop. I've been trying to get to the river since Thursday of this week and I'm hoping and praying I can get there about 8:am in the morning and stay most of the day. Maybe I will have something worth posting this time tomorrow evening. HH.
