AT Pro arrived today. Very good news after first tests.

Yesterday, I finished watching the AT Pro tutorial in Youtube, just to help me sink in to the AT Pro's features.
Today, it arrived and I fully assembled it and did some air testing.
Okay, the good news:
I was curious about how it would read coins on their sides. Well, I am now very happy I bought the AT Pro!
The side readings are one to two numbers higher than the flat side readings.
This is what I was hoping for. I was used to getting iron or foil readings for coins laying on their sides. The AT Pro snuffs them out just fine, at least during the air testing.
I'll do more testing out in the field for sure.
Can't wait for good weather, and spare time to go out detecting. I'm gonna hit my favourite field, since the grass is still at a reasonably low height.

Since it looks like you already have an Ace250, I imagine that the learning curve will be shorter and that you'll be very pleased with the AT's performance. Looking forward to seeing/hearing how it's going.

Got an hour done today, just to get the feel on the detector. The height of the grass is incredible... I'll have to wait until the farmers cut all the hay later this month. I messed around with the ground balance, settled with 70 in the trashy areas and all the way up to 90 in the clear fields. I did both the manual and automatic settings, pretty easy. At first the MD was chirping like a sparrow in love, then I settled it down and it worked perfectly. I like the bell tones in the standard mode while I like the variable tones in trashy areas in the pro mode. I used three notches off in the sensitivity, above that, it was noisy. There was a point where the thing went crazy, must have been some underground power or telephone lines nearby. I didn't use the Garrett earphones, pretty heavy and hot. Is there a quick way of attaching normal earphones to that 1+1 jack? Is that 1+1 jack something standard or is it a Garrett item? The centerpoint is very precise and the discrimination is also accurate. I already got used to the pulltab readings, digging up predicted pulltabs. I picked out three fields I want to detect later on in the season, but for now the grass is just too tall. I will also do another video. Now it's the bees' turn to do their stuff on the flowers. :)

Glad to hear that you're getting the feel of the new detector, Fabio. There's a Garrett adapter- you can get it from your dealer or on eBay. It's 1/4", so you may need another adapter if your 'phones have a small jack. I use 'behind the neck' or earbuds during the hot months, too. The sound quality is much higher than the stock phones, too.

Great fun awaits! Coins on edge, NO SWEAT!
