AT Pro and persistence pays off:twodetecting:

After a long summer, and then waiting for deer season to be over with, my dad and I were finally able to get back to an area that we have hunted many times over the years with different detectors, but never with an AT Pro. We decided to refocus our efforts and grid off a couple areas rather than just wander about aimlessly, and it has really paid off for us! The breast plate was the icing on the cake....my dad and I could not believe that we had probably walked over it a 100 times before and never found it. Most of the minie balls were fairly deep, 6 - 8 inches with a few being 9 - 10 inches deep and ringing up any where from the high 60`s to low 80`s depending upon the shape and size. We have hunted this area four times in the last 3 months and hope to get back again a couple times before the snakes start crawling again. Better technique, or better detector?.....probably both....all I know is that since buying my AT Pro last spring, I have not been disappointed yet, and it has been worth every penny!

Wow great job, sweet breast plate would love to find a piece of history like that good luck and HH

Very nice finds! That breast plate is a great save and yours appears to be in wonderful condition. I've found one and it was partially bent. The A T does love bullets and you are right. Depending on their size, they can come in from the 40's to the 70's. Again a great hunt! HH jim tn

Thanks guys! Dancer, it`s an area that was a travel route in between some entrenchments and a major battle site that is several miles away. Probably lots of small skirmishes along this route and we figure this is where one took place. I know that there was a camp some where nearby, but we don`t have access to a lot of the places I would love to check out. (bummer) Maybe some day in the future it will work out and I can get permission from the landowners to check out some of these other areas.

Great finds, and persistence is always a nice quality to have, congrats. Artie

That's a lot of history, Mud Dawg! Hope the site holds some more happy (non-reptilian) surprises!

Yeah we actually got one of those scaly surprises one day a few years back, we were swinging away in that area and walked up on a large rattlesnake! Since then we just avoid the area altogether during the warmer months. It`s hard to hunt and pay attention to whats going on around you especially when your zoned out listening to your detector and watching your coil swings.

Nice recoveries, Mudd Dawg. I would hate to stumble upon a rattler! We don't have them around here in SW Washington, thankfully.

Wow :clapping: great score! Glad you are kicking it hard with the ATPro.
