AT Pro and ground balancing for depth

I am still experimenting with the AT Pro, last night I hit a target that was weak, then adjusted the GB to a higher positive number. The signal got a little stronger, at least in this case. I have also worked some with the sensitivity.

It seems I keep going back to having the sensitivity set at about 3 notches below max, changing this only when conditions need.

What about you? I would like to hear what other users find works for them with sensitivity and GB. Thanks

Jesse

I have experimented a little with off setting the ground balance but do not see a big difference. As a result I use the auto ground balance most of the time. However I always make sure to turn the iron audio on and find a quiet area so I can do a ground balance.

Manually tweaking the ground balance can in fact get you a little more depth. After ground balancing the detector, if you lower the VDI numbers, you should get increased performance on higher conductors like copper and silver. If you raise the numbers, you should get improved performance with lower conductors, like gold, lead and some small iron.

That is nice info. Very nice to know, thanks. Gotta try this on targets to see how it affects the signals.

ocassionally-but not always tweaking the gb will help with hot rocks. In low mineral ground (like some beaches) a slightly offset gb will get more depth.

Hi, I just do a manual ground balance normally......I have tried tweaking the ground balance up & down on deeper targets several times. It unequivocally worked the best when the ground balance was set properly to the ground I was working......Tweaking the ground balance with a little added performance only seems to work for me on air tests on various targets of different conductivities ....If your ground balance is off especially on ground that is highly mineralized your good targets can start sounding bad plus you will loose some penetration..... Also if your ground balance is off you will have more falsing issues not to mention pinpoint problems......Do what you want just have fun.......JJ

If I remember right, a slightly Positive GB is good for deep silver, and a slightly Negative GB is good for gold???
Is that right???
