I've got a few.

Another one.

The chart on the right (below) I was whipping the targets very quickly over the coil to see at what distance I could get a barely whisper signal. The chart on the left was done using a target swinging over the coil in a natural swing speed over the coil with a more repeatable signal. Both tests were done indoors. Swing speed does have an effect on target response. You gain depth with increasing the swing speed of the coil over the target. You can also miss targets.

John,

Just curious, but in the left chart you show 12-13 inches on 14k gold ring with the 8.5x11 dd, 7/8 sens and zero disc. On the right chart, with the same settings and coil, you show about 16" on the 14k gold ring. My question is why the big discrepancy?

Thanks...

Good point. The chart on the right I was whipping the targets very quickly over the coil to see at what distance I could get a barely whisper signal. The chart on the left was done using a target swinging over the coil in a natural swing speed over the coil with a more repeatable;e signal. Both tests were done indoors.

I will add this information to the mentioned post.

Last Saturday, I was out with my ACE 250, just for comparison with my AT Pro, which I left at home. The two main differences I discovered were that pinpointing with the ACE 250 is alot easier, but random falsing is also common with it. The AT Pro does not have falsing problems, but I'm finding it difficult to pinpoint, being that I can't get it to pinpoint when pressing the pinpoint button, it keeps chirping normally. Any one else have trouble pinpointing with the AT Pro?

The double-d coil has a learning curve. Surface bottle caps and high sensitivity is a good example. If you read the instruction manual they show you how to do the tip/tail or toe/heel method.

The instruction manual says sweep speed 3 feet per second. Other detectors can't sweep that fast--their electronics are too slow to keep up. That's probably one of the best features of the Pro and Gold. The Gold is so fast you can't count the targets. I mean like 20 in one second. There's an AT Gold video on the Garrett website think it's called Detecting in trashy city parks. Right near the beginning of the video Steve opens it up just to show how many targets are there. You can hear for yourself how fast it is.
