AT Pro advice for newby...?

OK, been reading the back posts here in the forum and everyone is so excited about the AT Pro that I got excited and bought one too. Any tips, tricks, or other sage wisdom and advice for an AT newby...?

Thanks
John

Air test, and messing around with targets in the yard helped me a bunch getting used to VDI and target representation. Not being familiar with the AT Pro, I suggest running in standard mode for a few trips out to get used to the tones the AT has. It took me a while to get used to the pinpointing of the DD coil, also accurately sizing targets (Garrett has some great AT Video's on their website for this) Besides that, it's a great grab and go machine that can easily be adapted to because of it's ease of use, a less is more sorta thing. Happy Hunting, I don't think you will regret your choice...

Get time on it digging everything up and you'll figure it out pretty quick. You can swing fairly fast in clean ground, slow way down in trashy ground and keep the coil low to the ground. Other then that, have fun!

Practice, practice and practice. Don't worry about all the junk you dig up, we all dig it too.

Here's a link to the videos.

You have already shown great Wisdom Grasshopper...You have called out to the Seekers for advice, and they have heard your pleas....Great advice has been given, and we see that you have heard...Now GO forth and dig that which is hidden and show it to others through pictures passed along miles of metal cables through boxes that show what you ask of them....May the tones guide you...
On a seious note...You may want to start in Standard Coins mode and do some swinging to practice your swing timing and Pin Pointing...Once you can get your holes down to less than 6" across for a 6" or less target, you should give the Pro modes a go and get used to the sounds it generates...Definitely watch the videos OVER and OVER again...I still watch them from time to time...The AT Pro teaches me something every time I use her...
Good luck and be sure to post your pictures of your finds....

Happy Hunting,

Thanks guys:

I found the videos and have started going through them as well as reading the manual. Ironically, it was the code of conduct that has kept me out of parks and other similar areas for years keeping my hunting relegated to beaches and other areas where "replacing divots" would not be a problem. Recently a more experienced member of the club I just joined. took me out and "showed me where the stumps are" regarding minimizing hole size and turf damage. I feel more confident in hunting parks now which is a relatively large factor in getting a machine with better disc ability. (Just got to start saving up for that Vibraprobe...)

Now if only the weather would clear up; in as much as the ATP is impervious to the cold rain, I am not so much any more... :)
