AT PRO a Bargain

Coinseeker 78

New member
I have been using the AT Pro for a little over a month and find it performs much better then expected. I have the standard 8X11 coil and the 5X8 coil. Both perform beautifully. The depth of both coils are among the best I have seen on any detector in its price range. I have hunted with other detectorist with much more expensive detectors. In fact these other detectors approach prices close to three times the price of the AT PRO. I have compared deep readings with these other detectors with both coils and find this detector matches or excels in the performance of high priced detectors. Simply put this detector is a bargain. The detector is well built and can be entirely submerged to 10 feet. I have found coins as deep as 10 inches with the larger coil and 8 inches with the 5X8 coil. ergonomics are well thought out and make detecting easy. I have found Gold jewelry, Silver coins and rings. Civil war artifacts also I have owned Minelab, Whites and Fisher detectors and find the AT PRO to be my favorite detector. Simpy put the AT PRO is a winner.

I agree Coinseeker. And It's such a fun machine to use!

I totally agree that it' the best $600 I've ever spent. If Garrett keeps this bang for the buck thing going there will be a lot of unemployed MD engineers scratching their greedy but#s. IMHO. HH

I have been saying that since day 1. Spending 2, 3 or even 4 x the amount as the AT Series doesn't get you 2,3 or 4 x the performance. In fact, it doesn't even come close.:)

Jump aboard. You'll enjoy the ride!! HH

Its clear that the AT PRO is the best bang for the buck today since it has performance that rivals machines costing 2 to 3 times as much as it. But look at what some other manufacturers are charging for accessories - $62 for a lower rod, $33 for an empty AA battery holder, 66 for a niMh recharable battery pack, etc. Sheesh.

It clear that Garrett prices their equipment by figuring out what it costs to develop and build adds in a reasonable profit on top of that while many other manufacturers charge as much as they think they can get away with. In other words their prices don't have anything to do with how much it costs to research and build.

Thank you Mr Garrett for not treating customers as wallets to take as much money as possible out of!

I think the 2 coil package is available through the end of May. That would include the 5X8 DD coil and the standard DD coil. Get the Garrett ProPinpointer and a good digging knife and you will be all set. The AT Pro is easy to learn and there's so much help from those on this forum that will help out with any questions. The AT Pro is what I gave one of my sons for Christmas and it's his first detector. I bought one for myself also and my 4 other way more expensive land dectectors are gathering dust on the shelf. We started hunting with the Pro's about 6-7 weeks ago and my son has found over 650 coins including a few silvers, 2 gold rings, 2 silver rings and lots of other interesting finds. I'm retired and have lots more time to hunt and I'm over 1300 coins including some silvers and 2 liberty nickels, 8 rings (2 gold, 3 silver and 3 cheapies) and a nice gold bracelet plus lots of other interesting things. We both use the 5X8 DD almost all the time and it's amazing in the trashy sites we like to hunt. Good hunting and look forward to hearing how you do with the AT Pro.

Good Hunting

IM there with ya . Got mine a month ago . its a no brainer for the price . And it will hunt toe to toe with any High In detector out there ... Found a huge silver ring first day out.
also have the garrett pro pointer as well ,,,,, Great combo ...

I can't think of any other machine that you can just take out of the box and then give the big boys/girls (higher priced machines) a real run for their money with it.

I owned a ML, and I spent more time adjusting and tweaking that %$#@ thing than actually metal detecting and It didn't go as deep when I finally did get it dialed-in as the AT Pro (no fun at all with that one).

Sold it, bought the AT Pro last October and never looked back.

The End (and a happy ending at this point I might add).:)
