AT PRO...5 stars

I hunt civil war campsites littered with square nails and ive tried the minelab safari, teknetics t2 se but they give good audio and id on the old sqauare nails so i bought an at pro yesterday because i had heard it was really good at discriminating in the old sites. All i can say is "WOW",i went out this morning and put discrimination at 40 and dug 3 eagle buttons and a bunch of other stuff that i had missed with the other two detectors i mentioned. Big thumbs up to the at pro and it is without a doubt the best disriminating machine i have used. Awesome machine!

The AT Pro is a good machine no doubt. It works good in bad ground and iron. I think you said on the Teknetics forum that your T2 was bad from the get go and were going to send it for repair so I wouldn't feel right using it as a base for comparison until it gets fixed. There are quite a few here that have had to send their AT Pros in for various things...some times multiple times so any machine is subject to defects and bugs. Until then, enjoy your AT Pro. The invitation is open any time to come hunt some of these southeast TN camps and skirmish sites.

It is a good relic detector for sure think the gold will be even better in heavy iron and for brass buttons. Pro I think may be better on the deep bullets.

Is there a better detector in iron trash than the Pro? Most places I hunt getting around iron junk is way more important than raw depth. And by better I mean at any price.

So far, the G2 and Gold Bug may be the only other detector that can easily sift through iron trash...

HH,

Have had a G2 it is a good detector for sure. The AT Gold is as good or better in iron and has the iron audio and is also water proof. Sold my G2 as soon as I had the AT gold on order as I figured they would be comparable and the waterproof was a big plus for me.

Yes I agree the AT Pro detector discriminates well. The AT Pro also does very well in iron trash as said by others, better than other high end detectors I have owned and used in the past. This is a plus due to a lot of areas being riddled with iron trash. If a guy takes his time and slows down working the iron trash areas the AT Pro will shine. Also after taking the time to understand the iron audio feature of the AT Pro give you another usable tool when hunting in iron trash. It's all good when a detector can perform and benefit a guy in iron trash.

I just got my AT Pro, and had it out the last 3 days in some very trashy areas. Today I did some wading with it, and was very pleased. I have a T2SE that also performs admirably. I have used both at these location (no wading with the T2). They both told me the same thing, in a some what different way. I would recommend either machine, but the Pro gets a plus for the water proof.

Consider this about the AT machine.... its the ONLY machine for the dollar that you can take to wet black sand at the beach, then take it home and search your lawn or garden (with good discrimination!) . It works great in any conditions, I have had mine underwater at Myrtle Beach and under water in Penns Creek, Pennsylvania. No problems. I have found targets at both places with easy ground balancing.

When I went looking for a detector, I decided that I didnt want a PI machine, but still wanted to hunt the beaches. I think that Garrett has a winner here, it seems that the complaints have been handled, folks are getting upgrades, and there are lots of happy people digging holes.

No machine is perfect, each has its good points and a weak point or two, but for the price it just makes sense. I am very pleased with my AT Pro.
