I am thinking of changing my detector due to it's old age.
All my detecting is done on our beaches, which machine would you recommend for me to purchase, the AT Pro or the Gold.

If you hunt salt water beaches then you will be better off with a GARRETT PI DETECTOR (THEY ARE NOT EFFECTED BY THE SALT WATER) Ground balance easy. this depends on your budget.
If you fresh water hunt then the AT PRO CAN'T BE BEAT WATER PROOF TOO 10 FEET. I only fresh water beach hunt 95% of the time and my finds this year with AT PRO are over 3000.00 IN COINS RINGS (1- Rolex watch) I kid you not. AT PRO IS GOOD ON SALT WATER BEACH IN DRY SAND, hard to ground balance in wet sand but it will work when you get use to.
SALT WATER BEACHES WILL PRODUCE MORE IN THE DRY SAND UMBRELLA LINE.
I use my AT PRO under water and the finds in lakes are hard to beat !!( 42 years detecting and I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT). last thing GARRETT PI DETECTORS ARE BEST IN SALT.
GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND

If it's salt water beaches, go with the AT Pro. If it's freshwater, either detector will work fine. The Gold will get a bit better depth over the Pro due to it's true all metal mode.

Thanks for all the information. I have looked at the Garrett PI but I think I would end up digging lots of rubbish.
