How come you dont hear too mutch on the AT-Gold??? I love mine, Not to many People have im??????? Thanks mickfin,

It might be because it costs about $100.00 more, or perhaps because it was promoted as a gold nugget finding detector and most people hunt for coins, jewellry and relics.

And I love mine also. It has the 5 x 8 coil on it and my AT Pro has the largest coil on it. Both get used often.

John Im going too take my AT-Gold too some fresh water today a trashy spot a Gold chain snifer outer 4R sure!!!!!!!
With a real FAST!!!!! Recovery speed Faster thean the Pro but thats a good unit also, My AT-Gold found a 1927 wheeti in a real a trashy spot 5x8 coil,
Good #s too you N yours John, Mickfin

I'm always giving praise for the AT Gold. The All Metal mode is killer. Compared to a pulse unit, it has a more stable threshold, is hotter on small targets, is easier to pinpoint with, and goes almost as deep. Really. I was in some damp sand the other day and it was crackling, but the targets were easy to hear. I pulled stuff out the pulse unit missed because the threshold is hard to hear through sometimes. I highly recommend practicing even for an hour in the sand and digging everything that gives a tone. ID numbers are not accurate on the deep targets until I dig down a ways. It takes some practice to learn what the deep targets sound like. I turned up the headphones and holy smoke it was deadly. I use DISC 1 mostly in trashy areas, but if I find some deep targets, I switch over the the All Metal. A lot of people think the ATG is only for gold, but it is very hot on coins and jewelry. Even hits deep silver.

I have both AT GOLD and AT PRO and perfer using the gold probably 90% of the time. Very user friendly . If my area is not so trashy I hunt in all metal mode and if lots of trash I use disc.1. I have never even used disc 2. I believe the gold is hotter on nichols than the pro because I have dug them where I missed with the at pro. Both are great detectors. I always dig bouncing vdi 47-55 with great success. I plan on this to be my primary detector for a long time. HH

I dont think anyone gave the gold much thought because the pro was so popular. i switched from the pro and now have the gold myself and wouldnt switch back. in my test garden the gold is noticeably deeper than my pro(with same coils) was here in ohio. i also like having threshold. i see garrett is now starting to promote it in their new ads for relic hunters. i know two others who had pros and have now switched to the gold. also if you look at beaus(aquachigger) videos he has switched and the guys on "diggers" have switched to the gold also..

I have 2 AT Pro's and love them and am thinking of getting a AT Gold,,,
My question is will the AT Gold pick up smaller Gold than the AT Pro ???
Like a small piece of a gold ring,,that is real thin and a 1/2" long...

You mean how deep will it pick it up? I don't have the exact depth, but I would guess four or five inches in all metal moderate to bad ground. DISC 1 will be less. I use about a two grain picker for a test target. About three inches in mixed mine tailings. That's hot ground.

I have both too. For salt water I use the Pro. All else I use the Gold. Seems to be a lot nicer to use for some reason and I like the threshold feature. All metal is great. Other than salt water use I think the Gold is a better all around machine. But I'm new to this.

johnho its Cozz the AT-Gold in faster on the Recovery speed N the Pin Point is Sharper, I traded my Pro 4R a Gold, Mickfin

Hey Mickly,

I like my AT Gold and the upgrade to the 8.5"X11" DD coil added depth and coverage over the smaller stock DD coil.

Remember the park we hunted, Went back last weekend and picked up several old deep coins from the area full of iron. It was a fun hunt and amazed how well the AT Gold did, excellent machine and priced right too allot of neat features can't go wrong.

Take care,
Paul (Ca)
