AT Gold vs. AT Pro or Max

Hi friends,
I've never owned a Garrett though I used a friend's 2500 once.

I'm curious about the AT Gold for coin shooting in an area where there are tons of old square iron nails verses the AT Pro.

Or is there a better Garrett than the Gold and Pro for coin shooting in such a condition of lots of iron nails?

I've heard the AT Gold does great on coins. Don't know how deep it goes though.

Any ideas?

Maybe someone knows the answer to the questions I asked?

Is the AT Gold good at getting coins in iron nails? Or would the AT Pro be better? Or is there another Garrett machine that is great in iron nail infested areas?

Hopefully John - Edmonton will weigh in on this!

I have the AT Gold, used to have the AT Pro. I like the Gold better for hunting in carpet of nails. It's hotter, hit great on coins, separates better than the Pro I feel and prefer the tones better. At Gold has true motion all metal mode which the Pro does not and is deeper. That being said the new AT Max is supposed to have all the best of the Gold and Pro combined and more. Might want to wait and see how it pans out. I would choose the Gold over the Pro though.

Thanks Welgund.

What exactly is "true motion all metal mode?" and how does that differentiate between silver and iron nails when in all metal mode? In that mode, do you have one tone for iron and one for silver or gold coins/rings?

I have the Pro and love to go to Bottle Cap school. It is a school yard where they have played sports for years and the place is just Loaded with bottle caps everywhere. The pro does well for me in that place and sniffs out the coins from the bottle caps. I never had a AT Gold in there so ...

It means in part that when you swing your coil over an object and you get a hit, you can hover over it and get a continues sound till you move it away.
It goes deeper than any other mode. It's like a pin point mode but you don't have to keep your finger on the button all the time to keep it in this "pinpoint" mode.
