AT Gold - Swang it for the first time today

ArnieTX

Member
Simple to use
Lightweight
Drizzle doesn't bother it ( out in it today)
Good depth

These are some of my observations watching my 11 year old swing it yesterday for the first time and my own experience today.

After lugging my Etrac around yesterday while my son hunted with his new ATG for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it swings and works.

Every target my Etrac saw yesterday, the ATG located.

Anyway, more to come but so far so good.

Yeah, I'm no expert, have no experience with most of the machines out there, but the Pro just seems to do the job. If you get hooked on it, and have some extra jingo hanging around, waiting to be reinvested in the hobby, I really recommend the 5X8 coil for the Pro. Makes the unit very well balanced, and lighter, separates the trash/targets better. Put it on my Pro in April of this year, hasn't come off yet. Artie

Glad you like the AT-Gold. If you are working the fields ,get your self the 8-1/2x11 inch coil for more depth. Artman the AT-gold comes with the 5x8 coil. HH, GS

Ahh, I did not know that. haven't actually seen a Gold. Artie

I wasn't being a smart a$$ Artie, just figured i would let you know about the coil Sir. I have both AT's and it works out great because now i have both coils. HH, GS

Groundscanner, I did not take that as a dig, (as opposed to the other digging that we all do, LOL). Not really sure of all the differences between the Pro, and the Gold. I did listen to people here, and buy both coils. Hope the new year is good to you, Artie

Thanks for the report, Arnie. It's good to hear that your AT Gold is measuring up to another great detector, especially since I and have an AT Gold & can't afford another machine right now.

Took the boy out this evening to a church. I dug the targets he detected so he could see the proper way to cut a plug and not leave a mess behind. Took us a while to figure out the best way to pinpoint but we got there. He learned a lot.

He found 2 bucks in change , a silver ring, and 8 wheat pennies. It's a matter of time before he starts digging silver. :twodetecting:

Tomorrow we hit the relic fields where you never know what you may find.

He loves this stuff as much as I do. I love watching him.

Arnie

Sounds like shortly, you may have a hard time keeping up with him LOL. Good luck to both of you, Artie

What a great activity to share with your son, especially with his teens approaching!
