AT Gold should be here by weekend!

The Garrett AT Gold should be arriving by UPS before the weekend. I am just as excited about it as I was my first detector, when I was just a kid. It has been many years since I've done any "treasure hunting" , and with that old machine most treasures were antique pull tabs and a few wheat pennies. I do remember that everything felt like a treasure right up until you dug it up, and I suppose that is the appeal that has kept me interested in detecting and what finally drove me to buy what I hope will turn out to be a good machine.

That sounds great Smitty. Your gonna love the AT gold. Easy to use, IDs well, excellent target seperation, fast reset speed and excellent depth.
Great time of year to get one too, get out there and do a little wading with it:beers:

Fantastic !!!!

You got a maiden voyage hunt spot already picked out? I can speak for the AT-Gold, but if it is anything like the AT-Pro...you are going to love it.

All metal mode rules! and I love that iron audio ~

Well, Saturday has come and gone and UPS didn't show up with the Garrett AT Gold. According to tracking info it should be here Monday and that will still be okay since I'm off work until Tuesday. I may still be able to hit the bleachers at the county fairground or something close.

Everything I read tells me the AT Gold is an excellant machine, I really hope so. It is actually coming from BigBoysHobbies sold through amazon, and according to the ups tracking it should be delivered today. I missed out on this weekend but that will give me four days to plan a "maiden voyage" for it for next weekend.

I suggest you put out several targets including rings, coins, aluminum tabs, pop tops, bottlecaps, nails, etc.Remember to ground balance often in All Metal. Dig most all targets at first even those with iron grunt. You want to learn the iron audio. After that, still dig the iffy targets. If you want some quick pracice go to a tot lot (use all metal mode) and dig everything that makes a tone unless obvious iron. .

Thanks for the advice MikeLab, UPS finally showed up with AT Gold about 4pm yesterday, just enough time to put it together and make sure everything worked. Already tried it out on the wife's jewelry, pocket knife, change and iron pins. I will make a trip to the local park on Saturday morning before heading out for anything else. "Smitty"
