A friend of mine had recently purchased a at gold and used it once on a relic hunt, but need to know can use the detector in the water without any headphones? will hurt anything? the control box?
 
Yes you can use it in the water without headphones. Just cap the connector for the headphones to keep sand and water out. The unit won't perform very well in salt water though.
 
No phones in the water...just plain foolish!! Let me know where you hunt and I'll come scoop all that loot you're gonna miss!!
 
OHHHH please braggers no need to post, don't need the phones in 3' of water or a little more but if your feelin bad for me and would like to donate a set hey i'd take you up on it!
 
the at gold has a built in water proof speaker
like john said just put the cap on the headphone conection & go
if the controal box is under water its hard to hear without the headphones but it will work fine if its out of the water
i love my at gold :detecting:
