AT Gold in saltwater ?

SWMO Mark

New member
I was reading the specs on the Pro & Gold. They say the Pro will work in saltwater, but they don't say if the Gold will work in saltwater or not. If the Gold wont work in saltwater, does anyone know why ? Trying to decide which model to get. I mostly relic hunt, but do get to a saltwater beach maybe twice a year. Thanks, Mark

The Gold isn't recommended for salt water. Too sensitive to the mineralization, I think... it won't ground balance (someone who has actually tried it will hopefully chime in). It's said to work well on the dry sand areas, though.

Thanks for the replies. I was guessing the high freq. was probably why it wasn't shown to work in saltwater. I know on my Exterra 70, the high freq. coil doesn't work as well as the 3khz coil in saltwater. Mark
