AT GOLD IN ALL METAL ???

St Bernard

New member
I am looking at the AT GOLD & AT MAX. For those of you who have the AT GOLD how does it perform in all metal for coin hunting? I like the 18Khz freq for some gold detecting with out spending lots of money on just something for gold. Where I live here in northern California there are places to detect fog gold especially in the summer when the small creeks are dry. I am also looking at the AT MAX as an all around detector which seems to be working well from what I read. Feed back appreciated on the AT GOLD in all metal.

Thanks Bill

The AT MAX has the "best" bells and whistles from both the AT Pro/AT Gold. The true all metal mode on the max is crazy deep. You can still utilize the iron audio in true all metal mode, and it will still give you a designated VDI number for whats under the coil. Both the Gold and MAX have the adjustable threshold, to bring to your attention the possibility of a deep tiny target, hopefully gold. Both detectors work well for coins. Both seem to have an affinity to nickels, not surprising, as they are both hot on gold. The AT MAX allows you to notch out undesired targets, the AT Gold does not.

If paying the extra to get the MAX is good with you, I would head in that direction. However, the AT gold ain't no slouch either.

Below is a graph comparing all the features of the 3 machines to help and make a good decision. Good luck with whatever you decide on.

well i am new here. just got a AT Gold in mail this week was looking for a dual use machine as i want to find some small nuggets also in streams here in Maine so waterproof machine also want to swim hole hunt so i went with the AT Gold did many air test and wrote down numbers old silver coins and newer silver coins and i finally found a use for my 1960,s proof sets also checked out the differant gold ring numbers 18k to 10k did heavey sterling and light sterling rings numbers also. then went to local park and the numbers are all spot on depths a little fuzzy as i found more in an hour yesterday than i did in a week with a 15 year old Tesoro so to answer question am only using all metal right now WORKS GREAT. watch your numbers and listen to the tones they work also.

From an early colonial site. Usually I hunt with the 9x12 ProFormance mono coil for added depth.
