AT Gold if you already have AT-Pro....??

Diggin-it

New member
I already have 3 AT-Pro's and love them. One of them I do have the 5X8DD coil on, same as the ATG. My question for owners of BOTH machines...is it worth it? My local dealer told me "no" that since already have the AT-Pro its not worth investing in an ATG. Would like to hear the thoughts of others...but only if you have Both machines, or have had both models and know the differences by experience not fact sheets.

I primarily hunt freshwater beaches and lakes...just wondering if the ATG might find more gold in that setting then the AT-Pro does.

Since it is a high freq than the Pro it is more sensitive to gold and can detect smaller things better. So if your going after gold or lower conductors I would say yes!

I'm still learning my AT Gold, had the AT Pro since November. I would say yes if you work trashy sites or want to do some prospecting. It's a hot little machine, and the sounds are quite different from the ATP (and I like it!). It does an even better job of iron discrimination that my ATP - I especially appreciate it's performance on bottle caps, as I used to end up digging quite a few. and it's equally good on coins, amazing separation and recovery speed. I couldn't be happier with mine.

I don't have either, but I do have an Infinium. Just a thought, sell 2 AT Pros and get an Infinium and an AT Gold.
The Infinium is waterproof to 200 feet for lake diving and is deeper on gold than the AT Pro. This is a hobby,
have lots of fun with it.
Good hunting,
Rich

I have both and they are 2 different animals. Each has it's own personality and great fun to hunt with. Since you mainly hunt freshwater lakes and not much else, I would not see any particular advantage to getting the ATG. I got one cuz I hope to one day get up the country and try my hand at a little light prospecting.

all metal mode rules - nuff said! better depth - more sensitive - better iron disc and better finding gold - nuff said - ATG

Can one own too many detectors???? :detecting:

I mainly use my AT PRO for everything, relic, water, coin hunting, BUT I pull out my AT GOLD when the ground is highly mineralize and the true all metal mode punches deep for relics. JMO

Just got back from the local jewelry shop. Picked up a Gold and a Silver polishing cloth...good investment at only $10 each. Had them check out and value the 14K ring and replacement value was estimated at between $950 and $990. That was a pleasant suprise.

I wish we could get replacement value on the gold rings we find, but sadly...no!! At today's gold price...$175 melt value. Still a good lick, though!!

I only sell broken or ugly jewelry to be melted down...hate to see nice pieces get destroyed. The nice stuff I have a jeweler clean/polish and sell on CL. I average double melt value selling it that way. The real nice stuff I.....let me rephrase that, the Wife keeps.

I know what you mean!! My wifes collection is nicer than mine and she doesn't detect, just "allows" me to!! But that's OK, she makes those rings and things look good!!
