AT Gold back from the Garrett Hospital...

in just 9 total days!!! I haven't had a chance to check it out, but I'm sure it's in tip-top shape now. That service department at Garrett is great!! They even put a new plug on my Grey Ghost underwater 'phones for me at no charge, can't beat a deal like that!! I've used Garretts since '99, was my first ever detector and they've always made me feel part of the Garrett family, no matter what!! Thanks guys, your the greatest at standing behind a great product!!

That's pretty fast! I got mine back yesterday, which was 10 days from when I sent it in last Monday. I took it out on a couple of short hunts, seems to be working fine (they put a new coil on it). Unfortunately, the operator still needs a lot more practice hunting in trashy areas, heh,

He's very helpful...likes to nap in freshly dug holes. He's a dog-cat, he's hiked (well, walked) half of the Gila Nat. Forest with me. I didn't know that I was doing reconnaissance for future metal detecting outings. We located many old mines on our walks and will check their tailing piles before too long, now that the detector has come back from the Garrett Spa.

The new coil on AT Pro detectors seems to be a common denominator on detectors that were returned to the factory for repairs/upgrades. Mine had a new coil on it as well when I got it back. So.... This makes me wonder how many of the older coils are going to become available at some point on Ebay. I think that buyer beware may be very good advice for those that are contemplating picking up a used AT Pro coil for their AT Gold.

I have a hard time believing that Garrett would dispose of products that do not meet their standards in this manner.

No, please, I was not implying that Garrett would do that at all. I was suggesting that people may sell their original coil. I know that if I had sold the original coil that was on my detector, the buyers would have been able to ground balance thin air - it was absolutely terrible from new.
