Air test of the New AT Gold with stock coil

Did you push the ground balance button before you tested?

Thanks,

A

yes, no metal was present or near the unit

Nobody swings a coil that fast. I would be curious what the results would be if you would move the coin over the coil at the same speed you would normally swing the coil over the coin. (Hunting speed)

GBalance............. there is no ground to balance to in an air test.

Your a man on a mission 4 sure. Thanks for sharing your video on this forum

Sure there was. You left the other coins near the coil as you test each subsequent coin. Each coin left there will cause slight masking of any subsequent coins you tested. Should have removed each one, and maybe just made a mark on the paper with a pen or something. Also, does the couch have any springs or other metal in it? Mine does. Also my detectors work much better outside than they do inside the house because of the EMI in a typical house.

Some (?) had been sent out a while back to see if there could be some possible improvements/changes made to the units before they are officially released.

Well I hate to bust your bubble but the couch contains metal. Air test inside, Sens at 100 ( I am guessing that is max) on a couch that contains metal is not good. Air tests are not at all accurate anyway. I do think it is a good detector anyhow

Good video that was not all metal mode though it was zero discrimination mode. All metal mode would be the first mode. You were running in discrimination on that test.

How is it that folks keep popping up with AT Gold detectors when the rest of us are being kept waiting?

Some folks like me have had one on order since the first teaser video came out I ordered one before I even knew what it was or what the price would be. Told my dealer I wanted the new Garrett detector he did not even know about it when I ask. Some will get them before others that is just how it works.

And trying to be objective, one could also conclude, that is with the springs in the couch and the coins lying right in the field of the coils range, that the AT Gold with that excellent 5" x 8" coil blunted coil, that it has the ability to still get decent depth readings on various targets. Nice separation qualities are also shown. Masking characteristics don't seem to be a problem.

This video validates what I have observed and mentioned on some of my past posts, and I am referring to field hunts by the way, that the AT Gold using the 5" x 8" blunted "DD" coil had great separation qualities. There were several opportunities where a coin was still giving a nice somewhat clear high tone with a VDI in the 80's, yet had an iron target very near or at the buried coin. Also, doing several relic hunts, in the woods, the AT Gold produced an unusual higher percentage off small targets such as spent 22 lead projectiles and pellets from air rifles. Those tiny object's audio was quite pronounced with both audio beeps and changes in true all metal mode threshold, and they were found at various depths. The Garrett AT Gold also has a unique feature where it can be ground balanced to include a range of parameters, so the operator does not constantly have to manually ground balance the machine to compensate for ever changing mineralization conditions. I have also had mine under water for at least 15 hours, where it performs just as good as on land, with the exception of bobbing the coil vertically, where it starts to get some audio from the moving water over the coil.

The top mode is the "TRUE ALL METAL MODE"......not to be confused with the zero discrimination being used in the shown video. The true all metal mode will get even more depth then the zero discrimination mode as shown in tmanly's video. The zero discrimination is basically the same as the Pro Mode on the AT Pro. The histogram below shows the differences between the true all metal mode vs. the zero discrimination mode. Although it is just an air test, the common variables which might affect the accuracy of depth readings in the soil, are consistent throughout the testing procedure and show an actual increase in depth for each comparison.

Good points John. For that size coil the test showed good depth. Would get a bit more depth in the true all metal mode too. It is going to get better depth on nickels brass and gold type targets that is what it was designed for. Low conductors. This detector is not a deep silver coin hunter.
