At fort myres beach this week, looking for any tips on spots

I got the family on vaca. Were staying on ft myres beach, right in the middle of the island. Going to sanibel and captiva tomorrow. I hit the light house beach yesterday with no luck. Really no luck at all yet at ft myres pier and beach where we are staying. Any tips on captiva where to hunt?

I seem to have a bit more luck when I hunt areas where there is a collection of small stones, smaller debris, shells, broken or otherwise. This happens when two converging waves come together. Also darker sand near the surf. Sounds like a great vacation, Good luck!

Its been frustrating so far, nothing but shredded aluminum cans, couple clad and pennies but not as much as you think there would be. Went out at low tide a long way in to knee deep water and swung for hours.

You are about a month to early. Starting on the end of May to Sept.is the best time to hunt this area. Ft Myers beach is know for it's Can slaw. No one is finding any thing this year in this area ( Ft Myers and Naples area ) Last year at this time ,I had 17 rings, this year I got 4, no one is going into the water ( red tide , BP spill ) HH Ron Lord 239-331-1352

Went to sanibel and up to north captiva this am. Definatly better loking. Nothing good but lits of cad and pennies that have been there a while, very dark and corroded. Nobody looking there apparantly
