Hey,
Going shopping tomorrow for a MD and have settled on the Bounty Hunter brand due to cost and features and been reading and posting questions some. And have got some good feed back. Now I would like some expert feedback and opinions. Does any one know any thing about Cabella's "Advenurer 5500 Metal detector ? Its a Cabellas brand name made by Bounty Hunter and I copied and pasted the features here . It sounds like a good machine for the money but I would appreciate some advice from the ones with some knowledge before I pop out 150 to 200 $ so I know which I am getting the most bang for the bucks. If any one knows what this is compared to as a Bounty Hunter brand name I would appreciate it
The features are :LCD Target Readout
LCD Depth Readout
Low-Battery Indicator
Motion All-Metal Mode
Touchpad Selection
2 Modes of Operation
Discriminate Adjustment
Target/Notch System
3-Tone Audio Discrimination
Sensitivity Adjustment
Squelch-Tec Noise Reduction
Automatic Ground Balance
7" Open-Face Coil System
thanks

hello lee, ive not heard of that particular model but it sounds like a tracker 4. you might find it in bh landstars post on bounty hunters machines, i guess back in mid to late dec. good luck, and hh

Adventurer 5500 sounds a lot like the Bounty Hunter - Lone Star...I may be wrong...not too familliar with the Cabella's lineup.
Personally, I would not buy from Cabella's. I have had some bad experiences with them trying to return a defective GPS system....I would buy from Wal-Mart, or straight from:

look up the one you like, then find a dealer near you...

Don't think so. The Lone Star has no depth reader. The adventure 5500 has a large digital ID/Depth meter and should be "family" of the Discovery models. Never heard some feedback about their prestations.
that is a very good possibility...is the Discovery 2200 then equal to the pioneer 202???
Yes, the 5500 looks like a continuation of the Discovery series, possibly a variation of the Quick Silver.
The Pioneer 202 is the Quick Draw II.

I should say the 5500 looks like a continuation of the Discovery 1100, 2200, 3300 series and the Lone Star is a Discovery 2000 (different series).

It isn't equivalent to the Discovery 3300 (or Legacy 3300) if only for one reason; the 3300 has four tones. It cost about $300 too. FYI, my local WalMart has the BH models ranging from $200 and down. You may find the one you are looking for at yours.
