the city had a old downtown parking lot that was every bit as big as a football field, pavement removed. they took out about 6 inches of blacktop. under that was another 6 inches of old concrete. all this pavement had been laid on top of each other over the past 75 to 100 yrs. they took it all out exposing dirt that hadn't seen daylight since the 1800's, i'm sure. our town was booming in the late 1800's. can you imagine what was in that dirt. i could not detect it. they would not allow anyone on it. i sit there and cringed as they filled it back in with gravel, compacted it, and readied it for pavement again. so much history was exposed and no one could touch it. i'm sure i'm not the only one that has seen that happen in there town.
 
I think I might have hit it after dark just to see what was there,......maybe
