It sure ain't pretty, but I broke through my 18k ceiling this morning with this 6.1g 24k ring. Using the 705/HF DD Elliptical coil I got a 10/14 broken scratchy signal that was maybe 3 or 4 inches down in the hard beach sand. It looked a lot like brass to me when I first saw it with its dull finish ( It did buff up to a nice gold finish), but in my hand I could feel the weight and although I could not read it, I could make out a hallmark. It's not joined/soldered together, very soft/pliable and pretty beat up. I got a magnifying glass out of my pouch and was grinning ear to ear when I saw the 9999 stamp. It has, from what I can tell, been buried in the sand for some time since I found it in a spot that gets no beach rake cleaning. GL ALL

Sweet 24k Bob! :clapping:
Glad that you found it when you did. It looks like it was wearing away pretty quickly.

Gold is gold no matter what it looks like coming out of the ground, congrats on the ring.

It's always a good feeling when you have a single find that's valued at a little better than one third of the price of your detector.

Congrats!

Yep, Feel real lucky to have found this one. Now that things have slowed down with summer ending and the beach is not that populated, I change my routine and start hunting the out of the ordinary spots. It's not that these areas don't see activity, but they just are not as high traffic as the cabanas and towel line are during the summer tourist crush.
Thinking of having this one recast by my jeweler friend into some sort of pendent. It's not nice enough to keep as is or sell, but I do want the memory of my first 24k to live on as a show and tell piece.....Maybe cast it to look like my favorite coil,LOL.
Thanks ALL & GL

Yeow! That is about as good as it gets! Yes the crowds are thinning and the storms are holding off, but the hunting goes on. Praying for sand washouts!
