as cjc says "deepest water closest to shore"

Had a week at the beach with all 5 grandkids. Had a blast and got some detecting in too. Spent time with the Excal on this trip. Saw a lot of Equinoxes in use. Spent much of the detecting time in the cuts running parallel to the beach that only run a couple feet deep during low tide. Behind the cuts were very wide sand bars before the water starts to get deeper and very choppy with the high winds of the past week. The cuts, while not very deep, were the deepest water closest shore. Got one nice ring in knee deep water: 3 grams of 14K with some stones; couple of the small stones missing.
Cheers,

Very nice--TVR. When I started "marl hunting" my finds took off. It's uderstanding the overall grade--period.

That's a pretty ring; Congrats!
I'd be looking around for some junker small diamonds to replace those holes if it was me.

Thank you gentlemen.

Clive,
Seems that if the bottom of the little cut is soft under foot, things won't be productive. If the bottom of the cut is firm, even if the sand on the side of the slopes going into the cut are soft, chances are much better!

That's a beauty TVR! Love red stone gold rings! And you got in some time with the little one's.

Have you been out in the bay much? Been kind of slow of late with the water been not the best health wise.

Not sure if stones are real ... if I were betting ... I'd bet they are ... ring just has that quality look to it even if the stones aren't big.

OBN,
Not a lot of bay / tributary time this year. I've hit the very local to me tributary beach twice since the big north west wind blow out. That's the same little beach where I got the gold in early March where the water would have been way over my head had we not had the blow out. Haven't hit any bay facing beaches this year. Most detecting has been during travel out of state. I'm gearing up for retirement by spending down the vacation hours.

Best to you!
