Hi guys . I wanted some info on a button I found and I hope some one can help . Ok this was found only a short walk from Fort Gratiot 1814 to 1880? I was wondering if anyone could give a date as to when these buttons were in use from when to when ? The area gave what I think was a musket ball Iv got many in the area and today I got a smashed 3 ringer . And a seated dime 1875 and several indian heads . Any help would be appreciated . Randy

This guy is an absolute killer with a Minelab all. Was there anything on the back of the button Randy?

More information on the button for everybody, it is a flat button complete with shank. It says Corps on the bottom.

Great find Randy and good luck!!!!! Like you need it!!!!

Hi Robert , I went there yesterday and well one 1893 IH and a handful of clad . There is nothing on the back of the button like . I said in the post I picked a smashed three ringer like we get at the old fort firing range . And I picked up two more yards to hunt and found out about four old homes that are going to be torn down . They were the ones you were pointing out the other day .

you will wind that button on www.civilwarbuttons.com, even though the button is much earlier ,like the war of 1812. Good piece!!

Thanks coloradocav
I sure hope to get a few others in the area would make a nice Fathers day gift to my Dad with a few other buttons I got much later . Last year I put together a fram with musket balls and 3 ringers and 45 72 I got from the area . And Robert gave me a cannon ball he found in the area wich I made the center piece of collection .

Hi Randyjay; It is an 1812 Artilery Button. Obverse in Very Fine (VF) condition. The back is obviously obliterated which is to bad. A nice complete buttun would be about $20 - $40 dollars It would be a one piece button..It is still nice though. The other finds other than the musketballs don't match this piece.ok. Ther's got to be more there. Keep hunting.PEACE:RONB :detecting:

Barker, TY for your reply. The back is in perfect condition and still has the shank. The other object is the musket ball!!!! He is super happy with that find. Glad you could help!!

Hi scuba; Thanks. Didn't see buttons back. Looked quickly thought other piece in pic was the back. Next time I look better or I get glasses hahaha. Glad to help. PEACE:RONB
