Artifact Detecting Team - Fall 2011 colonial sites

This is our second year offering the nation's premiere Revolutionary War era detecting opportunities on Long Island, NY - settled 1642.

Please see artifactdetectingteam.com for all information.

We are sponsored by Minelab and this year we auction off a brand new E-Trac. You get one raffle ticket for each hunt day.
All hunt fees are paid to a not for profit historical society that arranges for access to the farm properties.

Last year over 100 people attended 6 hunts in the fall and spring. This year we expect over 150 people to join us. We never have more people on a property at any given event that would make the property crowded - everyone has space to wander the entire piece of land. Typical property size is 25-60 acres. We have 15-25 attending the site based on acreage.

Look forward to having you all attend.

We are holding a raffle run by and to benefit the Southampton Historical Museum for a trip to the UK to detect.
Leave USA 10/4/12 and return 10/12/12.

They are selling the tickets for $100.00 each. Only 25 tickets to be sold to get a winner - a 1 in 25 chance.

No money needed until all 25 tickets have been subscribed for. Only 12 tickets are left. The museum will video the entire ticket selection process.

Hello Barry,
Now that we are friends again we can communicate:laugh:
The purpose of a raffle is to generate funds for a charity or a non profit organisation. In that case I do not understand the mathematiques. You sell 25 tickets at $100 for a total of $2500.You took that trip to England a few years ago and if I remember it cost over $3000.
I do not think the historical society can operate at a lost so there is something wrong somewhere.
Also please have the historical society check state regulations about contests and raffles.I did run such promotions when I was working and I know they are quite stricte.Best regards.Pierre

Hello Pierre.
The raffle covers the land only portion of the trip. The value of that portion is $2000. The Museum is raising $500 in much needed funds if all 25 tickets are sold after paying for the land portion of the trip. The airfare from NY is under $1000. So the $2000 land plus the airfare equals my $3000 trip that I took 2 years ago.
The Museum is a registered 503(b) charity and can conduct raffles legally.
Barry
