Arrow "Spear" Head?

Stogger

Member
Found this stone in a small Virginia river that I was told by the land owner whose family has lived in this area for generations, was a good place to find arrow heads. I don't know if this is a spear head or not but it is rather symetrical and if you look at it from the side, it seems to have a sharper edge all the way around.

-Found this on a property I have permission to hunt (hopefully) for Civil War artifacts. The river runs through the property so thought I'd start detecting the river while his crop is growing. The river runs under a railroad bridge where next to this, supposedly 16,000 of Jacksons troops gathered to cross the mountains.

Interesting, I don't know. It's something I would pick up too though since it does look like it could be.

I don't believe that it is a spear point (usually made of flint ) but I do think that it is a hand spade or other "digging" implement . Nice find !
