Army case for what?? From WW1 camp

dk dogs

New member
I found this today and it was wrapped in an old news paper about 8 inches down and a WW1 camp. I thought at first it was a makeup compact but when I got home and cleaned off the paper from it I can see it has the Army eagle on it. So its not very deep as you can see and I thinking it either copper or bronze? What do you think it was for?
Thanks
Dave

think its the case for a round artillery calculator (round slide rule)

Round caliber / type / angle of gun / wind speed / wind direction / azimuth of gun

This is an example of a round slide rule but not from tha era or type http://sliderulemuseum.com/Archive/MilitaryAttackComputer.jpg

Here's one for Arty http://infohost.nmt.edu/~borchers/crichlow.pdf

Just a guess. May have held several types... or maybe not..

That could be. Thanks
