Armrest foam pad coming off

Docwalker

New member
The arm rest foam pad, is coming unglued.
It appears to be attached with a double stick tape.
The center of the pad is the worse.
the outer ends seem to be glued stronger and better.
This is a new X-Terra 70, with less than an hour on the odometer.
If this is common, is there a common fix?
Or, do I call / E-mail Minelab?

Thanks,

Doc

I've not had a problem with any of mine. But I always use a Minelab Neoprene Armrest Cover on all my detectors.

They cost less than $15 and not only make the armrest cup more comfortable. They keep the perspiration from running down your arm, as well. If it were me, I'd contact the dealer where you bought it and see if he could get you another set of the Armrest foam pads. Even if you have to buy them, I can't imagine they cost more than a couple bucks. And I'd be darn sure to have him get me one of those Neoprene armrest covers. JMHO

Here are the part numbers in case your dealer can't come up with them.

Randy...boy did I just get a shock thanks to your pic post. I got my X-Terra-70 in December and there is no pad on the arm rest at all. When did they start putting a pad on the arm rest. Because it is at times quite uncomfortable I have considered gluing a rubber pad to arm rest. But because its under warranty I didn't know if I should. If it is standard equipment I'm going to contact Minelab. TomB

The "peel and stick" pad comes with the X-Terra's armrest cup. To be honest, I've had mine so long now that I don't remember if it was already attached to the armrest cup or if I had to stick it on myself. But when I look at page 6 of the assembly instructions in my Operator's manual, it appears that the pad is already attached to the armrest cup. Regardless, if you didn't get one with your X-70 package, contact Minelab and they'll take care of you.
The Neoprene armrest cover is not stock equipment on the X-Terra. But it does come with the Advantage, the Sovereign and one or more of the gold detectors. Having used both the Advantage and the Sovereign over the years, I knew the armrest cover would also work well on my X-Terra. Actually, they work well on most any detector. So I bought a half dozen from a Minelab dealer several years ago and use them all the time. JMHO HH Randy

I bought the Neo cover yesterday and at first questioned the fit; it appeared wider than it should be.
After putting it on, it's just fine.

Sure makes a difference to have it installed. The neo allows the forearm to slide where the closed
cell foam pad did not, while still being plenty tight.
In other words, I can slide my arm in and out, instead of messing with the Velcro.

I googled the Neo cover with part number and found them for sale in Australia, but none offered as
I described them in the large Online sellers, or here in the US. However, a quick trip to the retailer
and I see that they are installed on every one they sell. Shows how observant I can be at times

Thanks Randy, I'll not be without one in the future.

Randy, do you know of a dealer who sells the neoprene arm rest covers and what they cost. I have never seen them advertised with the Minelab accessories. Blink

JW at Kellyco. They help sponsor this forum. If you don't want to call down there, you can place an order online. You may want to order several, as they fit many detectors. And shipping for three is the same price as it is for one. As I said, they don't make them specifically for the X-Terra. But those used on the Sovereign or Advantage fit just fine. Here is a link to the Sovereign accessories. You will find the Neoprene Armrest cover listed under Shaft Accessories. http://www.kellycodetectors.com/minelab/sovereignelite-accessories.htm HH Randy
