Armor All for the Shaft does Wonders

Buried Crap NJ

New member
I have followed post re guarding the shaft, dirt sand issues. I have really tried to keep mine clean. I always wash the detector off at a beach shower and when not available I always carry two 1 gal jugs of water. I have noticed the sliding portion of my shaft has discolored to a white grayish look. It feels a lot less smooth than when new. I have not to use silicone or any other sprays up until now. I was Reading Gary Draytons CTX 3030 book for beach hunting and he notes that spraying/wiping a coat of Armor All car protected works well for the shaft. I did this last night and as most already know Armor All will turn dirty crappy dash boards looking new. This has had a remarkable result on my shaft both in looks and the sliding of the shaft. I am thinking that sand and dirt will be less attracted to it as well.Give it a try!

Caution, It also will take off paint.

I use Armor-All wipes and have not had any problems. It does restore the luster and keeps my machines looking new. I always wash the crud off first and then use the wipes. HH :minelab:

There are no painted surfaces on the shaft. If you will look each shaft has a unique parttern.

I am aware of the fact that the shaft is not painted.....I was adding that fact about ArmorAll, for those that decide to use it all over the machine, especially the button pads.

Use some armor all we had in the garage, on the the CTX today. Came out great. It also helped repell the dust while I was out hunting, keeping it cleaner then normal. Thanks for the tip. Hard to believe no one commented on my " that's what she said". Come on people!!
