Hay all you gold digger, I am coming to Arizona In Jan. I have wanted to go to Arizona to hunt gold for almost 30 years. I am 58 now and if the good Lord will help me i will be there in Jan. I am going to stay about 2 mouths. What i need to know is do you think i should bring my 3" dredge, or is there not enough water? I have a small recirculating sluice, a regular sluice, pans the whole lot, you know. I am a GPAA member, and also have a privet claim to work. Dont know if claim has water or not. Thanks for all your help. Dean

i'm 30 mile east of yuma , around here you'll need a drywasher . blm has controll of a lot of land . got their own rules and regs . state park land wont let ya pick up a plain rock and pocket it . cant even drive in the desert anymore unless theres an existing road , gotta be afoot or horseback . welcome ta drive up the middle of some rocky wash tho . things have gotten tough , tooo many crazy snobirds . all i can say is do your homework beforehand for the area you want to prospect .

Thanks Doc, I have been try to get all the info I can. I will check out all parks before i come out. Thanks for the reply, i was starting to think everyone had quit gold prospecting with the new laws.

Gold prospecting is definetely not over. We see good gold coming in almost daily. If you hit southwestern Az, stop in the Gold Miser prospecting shop in Quartzsite,Az. There is also the Quartzsite Metal Detecting Club that you can join for only $15 annually. They have almost 400 acres of good gold claims you have access to any time you wish. Dry washing, metal detecting, rockhounding or whatever you want to do. One of the 160 acre claims is open for free camping if you have a self contained unit. There are thousands of miles of ATV trails also. Don't worry about all the snowbirds, there are thousands of acres of BLM land available. BTW, the QMDC has a coin hunt monthly. The Jan. hunt will have 21,000 coins in one hunt plus over 300 prize tokens. We have worked hard to make this Jan. hunt the biggest and best in the Southwest. We draw people from Az., Nv, Ca. and many winter visitors. Come on out!!!!!!!!!!!, but leave your dredge at home-no water. HH.......L

they wanted to charge for the seminar and they wanted to charge to park so I went out to the Weaver claim area did not find any with the metal detector but a couple of prospectors taught me how to pan for gold It was neat and I actually found several flakes of gold in my pan without throwing it back in the creek. Will be back out there next feb. I'll pan for some samples and when I find some I will detect to see if I can find some with the detector HH Gary
