I FOUND THIS QUARTER (TOTAL MINTAGE 10,980) ( ABOUT 50 KNOWN TO EXIST TODAY) IN FRONT OF AN OLD 1880s RESTAURANT ALONG THE RAILROAD TRACKS. THE CITY BROKE UP THE SIDEWALK AND SEVERAL OF US GOT IN AN AREA OF ABOUT 8'X25' AND FOUND ABOUT 20 COINS MINTED BEFORE 1900. I FOUND THIS QUARTER ( WITH MY 1236X2) ABOUT 2 INCHES DEEPER IN A HOLE THAT ONE OF THE OTHER GUYS DUG. JUDGING BY THE SCRATCH IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE IT WAS ON ITS EDGE.
I FOUND THE 1889 DIME , IN ALMOST UNCIRCULATED CONDITION, IN AN OLD RAILROAD CAMP THAT WAS OCCUPIED FROM 1889 TO 1892 WHILE THEY MOVED 4 MILES OF TRACK THAT KEPT WASHING OUT.
