Dose anyone know if Bass Lake in Califorina can be Hunted?? Its Low and will get Lower thear working on the Dam, Thanks,
Mickfin,

call the park office if they have one and ask.......if they say its ok ask the name of the person you are speaking to incase anybody stops to ask what you are doing....obey thier rules if permission is granted.....if permission is denied, thank them for there time and find somewhere else....

Whose land is Bass Lake sitting on? Fed? State? County? City? Better than calling a park personell, a better way is to look up any potential rules for yourself. Because the danger of asking a deskbound bureaucrat, is you may get a "no", when no real rule saying so exists. Ie.: simply because they think you'll hurt the earthworms, or because they envision geeks with shovels, etc.... In other words, you might get the old "no one cares till you ask" pyschology.

Aren't the rules printed on the sign at the park entrance? Or the leaflet passed passed out at the park kiosk? If you see no prohibitions about metal detecting, the presto, I guess it's not prohibited!

Mick, now you know who to contact. You owe me....lol...jut kidding

Bass Lake is a small artificial lake in the Sierra National Forest, of Madera County, California, approximately 14 mi (23 km) south of the entrance to Yosemite National Park. The lake is formed by the construction of the Crane Valley Dam across Willow Creek, a tributary to the San Joaquin River, and is referenced as Crane Valley Lake.[3] Releases from the dam drive the hydro-electric powerplant operated by Pacific Gas and Electric Company.[4]

Most of the land around the lake is part of the Sierra National Forest. The U.S. Forest Service designated the lake an official Recreation Area and has developed campgrounds and picnic areas on the south shore of the lake. The north shore of the lake is primarily made up of private cabins and homes of the unincorporated community, Bass Lake, California, with a year-round population of 2,195.[5]
