Are you digging "FOIL"?

I got this piece yesterday with the Excel. It was a solid "6" on the ID but jumped to "7" a time or two. It's the size of a dime and marked 18K I put it on the 18K chain I found a few weeks ago and together they weigh in at 16 grams. Now the really good news....my oldest Daughter's name is Suzanne. At least it's a piece I can use! She was very excited to get it. Not bad for 15 minutes of playing Park Pirate. It sure was cold! Dig that "foil" folks!

Thought I had another gold coin at first

Very nice Tony! That sure is a chunky bit O' 18K gold!
Congrats!
Tom

...and do you recall what tone(s) it was beeping at you?
Thanks for the reminder - and incentive - *not* to notch out foil.
Nice find!! Congrats....

WOW!! The "jewelry man" strikes again.

that you will be pretty happy with this machine. I had the discrimination set on "00" and the Sensitivity on 4. It showed a "6/7" on the ID and "70" or 3" when I pinpointed.

Isn't that what "MightyDog" with the 18 caches called one of us once?

Tony:
Thanks a bunch for that tip. I'd have thought it would have come in a little higher, like a nickel. I've been notching out foil, but I'll have to change that and start looking for lower numbers. Thanks again!!!

on some machines foil sounds ragged, chattery, broken-ish. Did this target sound better, fuller, rounder? I assume this would be a low-mid response and that might make it more difficult to distinguish, so if you switch to AM, which I believe is a single tone, is the audio response easier to distinguish? Or is there very little "analog audio" response from the Excel, but instead the lifeless digital quacking typical of many microprocessor based machines?
Yep, I'm just full of questions, since my Excel has not arrived, and you have managed to do exactly what I hope to do with it on trash filled freshwater beaches.
Thanks in advance for bestowing any wisdom.

I knew I had a good one when I heard it. Like you say, after you log all those hours on a machine, you kinda know when it's a keeper. I never thought about checking it in AM. If I can get it away from my firstborn, I may give that a shot.
