Are we a normal group of people?

These are a few observations I made on this forum.

We probably take our detectors out more than we take our wife's out.
We talk to our detectors and some detectors talk back.
We don't want anybody to bother us and want to be alone with our detectors.
We don't want them to leave us.
We miss them when they are away and can't wait for them to return.
When they do return, we rejoice and tell the whole world about it.
We want to know our detector is well balanced.
We want to know how to better understand our detector.
We know how to push the right buttons.
We get a great thrill when we accomplish something together.
And to most, the deeper the better.

I'm beginning to reassess my relationship with my detector.
Does all this sound normal to you?

You forgot to have and to hold, for better (gold) or for worse (pull tabs)

Define "normal" - hehehe

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who talks to my detector. I have a question though, how many of you have named your detector? I was thinking maybe Leif or Levi (get it? Levi Garrett or Leif Garrett).

Yep!!!!! Got my 2500 about 3 weeks ago, and started calling it "Levi" the next day.:surprised:

Mike.

"Brad" might be a good name for mine. It's tall and kinda goofy looking. He provides lots of entertainment for me. He occasionally pulls a prank by telling me there is a coin but it is really a pop-top.

Nah, I think is normal....:detecting:

Well, obviously I don't relate to some of what you guys are saying, since I'm a lil' girl. BTW - are there many other girls on this board?

But I CAN say with now doubt that I am definitely NOT normal...but that's OK 'cuz normal is boring!

My first reaction to your question, John? "No way in the world are we normal!"

On further reflection I'd have to say, yes. In fact, we are probably more normal than those without a pastime that both interests and occupies them.

HELL YEAH!! Sure it's normal.
I'll call my MD "Blondie/Blackie." lol (only kidding)

Regards,
Eu:buds:

I have no intention of ever being considered normal. How many 56 year olds do you know still working on their PHD in archaeology.

From a pychology class I once took, "to be normal in the society in which you are prefered, you have to consider the norm for that society". In other words if it is normal for individuals to talk to a machine , name it a name, dress it up, put hair on it etc. then that is normal for that society .Any thing outside of that society is not normal
