Are they worth it.

I been looking at the older Whites 2000/D 3000/D on ebay and am wondering if they are worth getting. I want to find a good analog machine that can still be used for coin shooting.

Also is there a site or page that show all the whites models by year? What is a good whites machine from the yearly to mid 90's

Thanks for the information.

Kelley

They are worth buying if
1) They work
2) Priced cheap

The oldies will still find coins, rings etc. down to 5" or so, where most of the coins today are still found.
In order to find stuff, it has to be there and you have to have the coil go over them.
One of my favorite back up machine in the late 70- early 80's was a White's Coinmaster 2/D ?
Simple machine that I also used as a loaner. I could find coins with it no problem. Probably
could keep up with today's Tesoro Compadre.

I'll post my Coinmaster IV picture of the finds over the summer when I first purchased it, think 1979?

I would suggest a Whites 5900di pro sl or 6000di pro sl. The 5900 will give you manual ground balance. You don't see many up for sale, but if you post a WTB on the classifieds or let Richard at Backwoods Detectors know he may come across one.
The Whites 6000xl replaced the 6000di pro sl but still has an analog meter.

Those are nice older machines but, the prices on used ones match or exceed the cost of many new hi-performance, lightweight detectors. Those White's models you
mentioned are on ebay all the time and sell from $300-450.00+. There is so much demand for those White's models because of the talk on the forums, they can no longer
be bought cheap. That is also being translated into some of the older 5000 series units, the price have now gone up.

You just need to keep an eye out for a good buy. Ebay is a joke. People asking rediculous prices. I never shop there. But if you watch the classifieds here on findmall or your local classifieds like craigslist you will find them at very good prices.

There was a 5900di pro sl in my location on cragslist for $250 recently.

The good deals are out there, you just won't find them on Ebay much anymore.

....or a variation of it such as the 4900D Pro....A lot of power for not much money....It is similar to the 5900 but lacks the TID meter...and is a lot lower in cost ............CHECK IT OUT......JOE
