....................I need your help please. Planning to visit the Huntington beach area for three days in mid September. I need to know if there are any restrictions on metal detector use on these beaches eg. Huntington , Seal Beach etc. I learned last year on the coast of communist Oregon that there is to be no detecting until after Labour Day. So we drove back up to the Seattle area where detecting was allowed during summer. Are there any beaches or tips you might recommend........we are doing mainly "dry sand" hunting. Thank you for your replies!!!

Wide open come on down. Only thing is that at dusk it does draw attention from the beachgoers. Waves are a bit big for water hunting.

I would try Huntington, Newport and Santa Monica near the Piers. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds...Between those three beaches there is about a square mile of open sand....good luck.
